iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 - Breath of Fresh Air to Smartphone Design - Technology - Communication

The iPhone 4 is the latest flagship model from Apple to become a huge hit in recent times. Every iPhone model that has been launched over the years have been better than the previous generation both in terms of features and popularity. The iPhone 4 seems no different from this, although the same cannot be said now. This is because the arrival of new high end phones from Samsung and HTC has changed the scenario a little bit. The arrival of these phones has certainly hindered the popularity of the iPhone 4, although the iPhone brand is not totally done and dusted.

This is because the new model that is all set to replace the iPhone 4 is going to arrive shortly. Even though Apple has not made any official announcement regarding the upcoming iPhone 5, most of the features regarding this phone are pretty much clear as of now. The 3.5 inch display present in the iPhone 4 certainly cannot be faulted for little bit because it used the incredibly revolutionary retina display technology along with the IPS panel unit. They both provide at the incredible rich display and the mind-boggling viewing angles, which made the iPhone 4 an instant success. It is most likely that both of these technologies will be employed in the iPhone 5 as well, but it will be joined by the addition of the edge to edge display technology.

This is the technology that will make it possible to have no edges surrounding the display, which seems to have made it possible to provide a 3.7 inch display within the iPhone 5, despite this phone retains the same dimensions as the iPhone 4. One can also expect thickness to be in the region of 8.5 mm, which would enable it to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S2. The iPhone 4 provided two different options when it came to the internal memory - 16 GB and 32 GB. One can expect the same options to the present in the iPhone 5 as well, which is unlikely to include the external memory card support. This should not be too much of a worry given the fact that it will come with more than sufficient amount of memory internally.

The biggest change on the iPhone 5 seems to be the processor, which is the 1 GHz dual core processor coming from the A5 range. This is only 0.2 GHz slower than the processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S2, which means that you can expect more or less the same kind of performance given that the RAM is also updated to the 1 GB from the 512 MB used previously. The five megapixel camera in the iPhone 4 may be extremely good, but it is not enough to compete with the eight megapixel units that are provided in the high end smartphones nowadays. Hence, it is very likely that the iPhone 5 will provide the eight megapixel camera, which is likely to come from Sony.
