Apple has always been the innovator of many new things in the high-end smartphone industry since 2007 when it initially launched the original Apple iPhone. Up until now, it has remained in this way into high end smartphone industry, but the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2 has challenged the supremacy quite a lot. In order to cement their position in the segment, Apple will be soon launching the iPhone 5, which will be the replacement model for the iPhone 4. The replacement for the iPhone 4 has been long overdue given the fact that this phone was launched in June 2010.
Finally, the iPhone 5 will be providing joy to the Apple lovers, who have been recently bullied by the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2. In order to take on the competition, it is not enough to be just focusing on the technology present within the phone alone. One certainly does not need to tell this to Apple - let's not forget that they reinvented the touchscreen display technology in the mobile phone industry - and it is quite clearly evident from the amount of features being rumoured in the iPhone 5. It is a phone that will come with the display size increase for the first time in the iPhone generation, which becomes extinct crucial to take on the massive 4.3 inch unit present in the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Even if you discount the Samsung Galaxy S2, most of the mobile phone companies nowadays are moving towards the 4.3 inch and even 4.5 inch display for their mobile phones. Hence, it is extremely crucial that the iPhone 5 becomes future proof at least for the next year or so until the iPhone 6 arrives. One can expect the retina display technology to be utilised without any changes in the iPhone 5, although some are suggesting that the technology could offer a slightly better resolution than the 960 x 640 pixel resolution present in the iPhone 4. The large display size is likely to provoke a new design theme for the phone, which will see it finally go beyond the antenna issues that the iPhone 4 faced.
One of the biggest improvements in the upcoming iPhone 5 has to be the processor that is rumoured on the phone. It is supposedly going to come with a 1 GHz dual core processor that seems to be one that has already made its debut in the Apple iPad 2. Even so, it is a processor that is more than capable of challenging the 1.2 GHz dual core unit in the Samsung Galaxy S2. The presence of 512 MB of RAM in the iPhone 4 is likely to be enhanced to 1 GB of RAM in the iPhone 5. Along with these features, the iPhone 5 will also be getting the eight megapixel camera that offers the full HD 1080 p video recording option. The iPhone 5 could be available from as early as in October in the United Kingdom.
